A group exhibition of functional and sculptural ceramics exploring ideas of containment in our physical and emotional space.
Saturday 16 November 2024, 3 - 5 pm join me and other makers at the gallery for an OPENING CELEBRATION.
I originally trained as a Visual Arts teacher and later as a ceramicist, completing my studies at East Sydney TAFE/National Art School in Sydney in 1997.
My ceramic practice encompasses both functional objects and sculptural installations. My favoured material is porcelain, which most of the time, suits my conceptual and aesthetic interests. However, my training and curiosity often leads me to explore different clay bodies, construction techniques and firing processes.
My work has featured in many group, solo and award exhibitions in Australia and overseas. I have won numerous awards and grants during my career including an Australia Council for the Arts grant that enabled me to exhibit at The Parsons School of Design, New York and complete a two-month residency at The International Ceramics Research Centre, in Denmark. My work is held in private and public collections, including The Powerhouse Museum, Sydney and The Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu, Japan.
